Frankie Green's happy ever after is put on hold when her childhood sweetheart husband complains things are boring in bed. When he asks for some space, she sets out to win him back by getting herself a sex education. Oh, poor Frankie. It must be incredibly humiliating and devastating when your childhood sweetheart announces that he's moving out on your first wedding anniversary because the sex is just too predictable. Frankie decides to get herself a sex education and a certain friend is willing to help. The friend happens to also be in a rather confusing romantic situation with the love of his life, as she ran off to travel the world. Frankie's good friends Letty and Em provide her with a lot of support while struggling with life and relationships themselves.
Honesty time:
I did struggle at the beginning getting in to this book because you're following three girls lives and it was a little confusing. However, as I kept reading on, I really began to enjoy the book and all three stories that went off in it.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Frankie's life blossom after her devastating break from her husband. Her confidence grew immensely throughout this book, not only with sex education but within herself as well. With her confidence, she became sexier and found what she really wanted in life. For a woman in her 30's, she had little knowledge in pleasing a man and was happy with the predictable routine she'd worked with for many years so it was quite funny to see her attempt to broaden her horizons no matter how awkward she may have felt. Her tutor was very educational and a great character for the book, it may seem at first that he's just taking advantage of the whole situation, but as you read on, he is incredibly helpful to Frankie and uses the opportunity in educating Frankie to also educate himself for when his girlfriend returns from travelling.
Letty and Em's stories were also good to follow and they blossomed too in their own ways. Em's story was much more interesting of the two as she had a lot going on, Letty's story only really began to spice up a little near the end. Their friendship was admirable throughout and I wish to have a small group of friends like them one day. It's only right to also bring up Frankie's dad as he was quite a highlight of the book, his story ended up being so beautiful and he was Frankie's rock when it came to advice on her husband, Jason. He helped her value herself and accept who she is, while doing the same for himself.
Overall, this book lovely to read, I smiled throughout and I will definitely be looking in to more of Laura Kemp's books!
